Nursing students Natalie Stevens and Abi Brockis were given the chance to share their concerns regarding the NHS with Labour leader Ed Miliband, at the recent Royal College of Nursing Congress, held in Harrogate recently.

The Congress which takes place annually, attracts as many as 4,000 members and acts as an important debating forum where nurses, midwives and students can comment upon and influence decisions and policies over the coming year.

After taking part as a keynote speaker, Ed Miliband spoke with student nurses from the University of Huddersfield.

Natalie Stevens and Abi Brockis who are studying BSc Child Nursing with honours, were eager to bring up their concerns regarding the NHS and the mentorship programme which is compulsory for nurses to go into, should they wish to further their career.

After talking with the Labour leader both students said they could see his passion for the health service, but unfortunately he did not seem that knowledgeable of the pressures student nurses are put under during their course.
