Go national awards IN

The University of Huddersfield’s Procurement team has been shortlisted for the National Government Opportunities (GO) Excellence in Public Procurement Awards 2017/18.

Firmly established as the premier procurement awards in the UK, the University joined the biggest ever list of finalists for the GO Awards, with well over 100 organisations going head to head against some of the best procurement teams in the UK.

The National GO Awards ceremony will take place on Tuesday 21 March in Manchester where the winners will be announced. This exclusive awards ceremony will allow our University to meet fellow entrants into the National GO Awards and receive our finalist certificate in advance of the Awards dinner and ceremony, where the trophies will be presented to the winners.

The submitted application for the award was using Customer Service Excellence (CSE) as the driver behind more effective and efficient procurement. The primary focus of procurement is to satisfy customer needs whilst adding value to the University.

John Thompson, Head of Procurement in the Financial Services team said of this achievement “Becoming a GO Awards finalist is a great credit to the University. The Customer Service Excellence standard and the improvement in procurement performance has raised the credibility of procurement across the University and beyond and given the team belief that they are making a difference to the University and to our customers. This has promoted a team work ethic with continuous improvement being the focus behind everything they do. We would encourage all schools and services on campus to contribute to the CSE (Customer Service Excellence) standard and work as part of a culture of continuous improvement. If the Procurement Team is successful on the awards night they would be the first to acknowledge the contribution made by all involved in procurement across the University, Go Team Huddersfield.
