‌You might not realise it but every bit of waste on campus goes off to be hand sorted and separated, allowing our waste to be recycled or reused. At the moment all the sorting happens off campus – but in the future (from April this year) we’re going to need your help as the University will be awarding a new waste contract and will begin a process to introduce separate bins on campus for different types of waste, allowing staff and students to separate more of their waste at source.

How can you help?

If you’re interested in how we can all work together to improve the University’s green credentials we are currently looking for volunteers to help come up with initiatives and to promote them round campus.  If you’d like to volunteer please email sustainability@hud.ac.uk  We’re looking for around 14 people, a member of staff and a student from each of our academic Schools so please do get in touch if you would be interested.

And don’t forget – from April we will need everyone’s help to make sure the right things go in the right bins.
