HIP Happening in Huddersfield

Emma Kirkby From Thursday 23 April to Saturday 25 April HIP Happening in Huddersfield showcases performances of renaissance, baroque, classical and early romantic music based on research into historical styles and early romantic music based on research styles and early instruments. The University welcomes some of the world's leading exponents to perform on campus at St. Paul’s Hall and Phipps Hall, together with researchers and students from the University.

The focus of the festival showcases world renowned Early Music specialist and soprano Emma Kirkby and American-born lutenist Jacob Heringman.  They will present 'Dowland's Den: lute songs from Shakespeare's England' with songs and lute music by John Dowland, Thomas Campion, Philip Rosseter, Alfonso Ferrabosco and John Danyel.

The festival also features performances and workshops by visiting artists including Four's Company, Penelope Cave, Thomas Moore, Andrew Brownell, The Meiningen Ensemble, the University Chamber Choir, Early Music Ensemble and Baroque Orchestra.
