Professor Collins Ntim, Professor of Accounting and Finance and Director of FEGReG has received a research grant award to conduct research into governance, risk management and disclosure practices of UK higher education institutions from the Leadership Foundation for Higher Education. He argues that “the recent introduction of a ‘free market’ style higher education (HE) sector is arguably the biggest policy reform in the UK in about half a century,  raising the level of operational complexity and uncertainty for senior managers of HE institutions (HEIs) and thus threatening the long-term sustainability of the sector”. The project will, therefore, seek to investigate the extent to which UK HEIs voluntarily disclose information relating to their internal governance mechanisms and risk management practices in their annual/audit committee (AC) reports with the objective of identifying, developing and disseminating ‘best practice’ within the sector. Further details of the project can be accessed from here.
