Majikkon

Majikkon, also known as the Huddersfield Manga Con, has been running in association with the Huddersfield Literature Festival for four years starting as a small convention with around 80 people in 2011 and growing to a footfall of approximately 1,100 people in 2014. This year it will take place once again at the University of Huddersfield on Saturday 7 March from 11.00am – 6.00pm.

The event will begin at 11.45am and will take place in the sports hall, featuring fun competitions and performances. On the day there will be the chance to browse merchandise related to pop culture, whilst young talented artists showcase and sell their art in the Artists’ Alley. The Creative Corner will be inviting event attendees to become artists themselves by crafting their own memorabilia of the day such as customised key rings, T-shirts and Harry Potter wands. You can also register for console and card game tournaments with a chance to win prizes. Refreshments will be available throughout the day and there will be fashion accessories and nail decorating at the Lolita Lounge. The popular Bring and Buy section will be selling second-hand accessories brought in by visitors on the day.

Manga 3 Majikkon is a celebration of not only Japanese pop-culture, fashion and games, but also Western comic book heroes and Sci-Fi shows. The event allows fans of these genres to come and meet with like-minded people in the North of England. Visitors come from all walks of life and many come dressed up as their favourite character, adding their own personality to the event.
