ESRC Festival of Social Science event in Nov 2014 on adoption

Fri, 11 Jul 2014 14:20:00 BST

Dr Jo Woodiwiss has been awarded a grant by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) to run a Festival of Social Science event on adoption with Dr Kate Wood from the division of Social Work.

The Festival of Social Science fortuitously coincides with National Adoption week. The event, which will be held in the early evening in November 2014 (date to be confirmed), is aimed at bringing social science research to the public. It will take the format of two sessions, the first with academic speakers introducing some key ideas around social science research on adoption and, following a refreshment break, the second session will involve those with experiences of adoption (as adoptees and adopters) and will be supplemented by short video clips of people's stories of adoption.

Attendees will need to book, however the event will be free and refreshments will be provided by the School of Human and Health Sciences. Further details of the event will be posted closer to the date.
